During the rise of counter culture symbolized by hippies and flower power in the late 1960s, GRATEFUL DEAD became a symbol of the movement in San Francisco, the center of that movement . Dead Bear first appeared on the artwork for GRATEFUL DEAD 's album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One ( Bear's Choice ). Originally they were nicknamed "Dancing Bears" and are still beloved mascot characters around the world today.

Waves are embroidered on the front. The graphic on the back features a river, which symbolizes RIVER SIDE CULTURE , with a dancing bear printed on it to blend in.

A slightly thick 100% COTTON fabric with a 30/10 fleece lining, with a unique natural feel. The navy body color has a pigment finish that gives it a vintage feel.
